Suggestions
for using Wood Preservative:
If
awaiting favorable weather, apply your Wood Preservative for the
winter. In the spring, follow cleaning directions, apply
your Armor Guard and prepare to apply the Cetol System.
If
your logs have a high moisture content, use the Wood Preservative
and recheck the moisture level in about 6 months.

Kiln and
Air Dried Logs
Kiln and air dried logs are dried by either forced
air or a kiln. Generally, their moisture content is
below 18%, however, some logs may have a moisture
content higher than 18%. Therefore, it is recommended to
allow a 6 month drying period before applying any
Sikkens film forming system, such as Cetol1 & Cetol
23 Plus.
When a 6 month drying period is necessary
the application of Sikkens Wood Preservative (where
available) or a non-film forming clear wood preservative
is recommended in order to prevent the growth of blue
fungi and mildew.
Kiln and air dried logs often have a
smooth, glossy surface that prevents good absorption and
the adhesion of the coating. To prevent this problem
before coating, follow the preparation procedures for
exterior logs.

| If it is necessary,
either due to high moisture content of logs or because
of bad/cold weather, apply Sikkens Wood Preservative at
a rate of 150-300 sq. ft. per gallon to the log home.
This gives the home owner 6 months in which to wait to
apply the Cetol System to their home.
Sikkens Wood
Preservative can be rolled on or brushed onto the logs.
