Tennessee Log Homes

Lakeview A model home is located on Lake Michigan.

Phillip and Karen enjoy the beautiful view of the lake from the deck of their just completed model, the Lakeview A.  Seasonal changes are intense on the Upper Peninsula. Wildlife is abundant in this area.

The arrival of the 3  trucks delivering the log package is a much anticipated event.

We had sufficient room to stack our materials close to the foundation.

The use of the fork lift for unloading was extremely helpful and a necessity.

The windows and doors arrived unscathed, protected by the Tyvek wrap.

It was very helpful to build the deck and side porch before starting on the walls.

By using decorator block, we will not have any further maintenance on the exposed basement.

As seen in this photo, we opted to use 8" x 8" D logs with saddle notch corners. (Note the double layer of insulation used on the tongues of each log.

Tennessee Log Homes uses full 12" lag bolts in each log, spaced about 30" apart. Notice that each log comes pre-drilled from the factory.

"We decided a good, sturdy stair built extra wide would facilitate the move-in process."

Local contractor, Bob Johnson, (center) hard at work.

Each and every log was "leveled"  vertically and horizontally.

Since the TLH logs are pre-cut and pre-numbered, we were able to erect the walls in just two days.

We decided to build on an exposed, raised basement to better see the view of Lake Michigan.

The benefits of the D-Log can be seen in this photo. The entire interior wall surface is flat, making installation of walls, cabinets, and hanging pictures easy later on.

The tan decorator block offers a nice contrast with the insulated garage doors.

The crane lifted the 44 ft. beam, it was set within an hour.  The cost was nominal, only $75.00.

The roof blocking is put in place at this time so that the premier insulation in the foreground can be applied.

Anderson Windows were used on the front gable.  The awnings provide air flow in nice weather.

The coating on this home is by Perma-Chink.  The Krumms chose to use Ultra-1 in Carmel.
