Tennessee Log Homes appreciates the Russell's sharing these detailed photos of their version of the Mountainview.  Individual touches DO make the home!

Home with a view!

The screen porch and lower deck are part of the outdoor living space.  The screened porch on the upper level is 10 x 50 feet!  4 doors open onto it making it a much used "room" of the home.

The screened in porch is carpeted in houseboat indoor/outdoor carpeting. Under the carpet is just the deck lumber.

Ron Phillips did a beautiful job framing out this great shaped window at the entrance.

The Russell's enjoy the beauty and perfection of the pre-cut Douglas Fir beams and rafters, supported by a massive round gnarly post -  the center of attention in the great room.

The gas stove easily heats the house. The railings are handcrafted primitive style, white pine - they lend to the rustic Appalachia look.

The kitchen features all stainless steel appliances, man-made granite counter tops and beautiful oak Kraft Maid cabinets.

The entry hall from the screened porch features this generous pantry.

Note the Home Technology knotty pine doors throughout the house.

The loft space is dedicated to crafts, library and computer activities.  Bright and cheerful, it is a favorite family space.

The loft was extended to the window.  The Russell's gained extra floor space and the view of Lake Cumberland.

Below, Cathy has been saving this quilt for years.  The bedroom was painted with it in mind.

After searching for a double vanity with a price and look they wanted, this dresser with the mirror achieved exactly what they wanted at 1/3 of the cost.

Now, that's thinking outside the box!  What a beautiful, rich look this is.

Cathy does not know why this is called a "soaker tub" - Ron's stature hardly fits!

Looking forward - Cathy has dubbed this the "grandbaby" tub.

This  lovely stained glass panel is located on the front of the house in the master bath.  Since it is at eye level, it serves a dual purpose:  it provides privacy yet does not block the light.

A door from the master bath leads directly into the laundry room.  Also, a door from the garage goes into the laundry room.  Clever planning keeps dirty outdoor clothes from the house and since most laundry is generated in the master bath, many steps are saved! (See the floor plans)

While shopping in one of Kentucky's tourist spots Cathy found this cute hand-carved mouse.  He is just adorable peaking out at the kitchen counter top!

Elk antlers from a Swedish friend hold towels in the guest bath.

The house is filled with a clever mix of old, new and whimsy.  Cathy relates that they have art work to hang but cannot bring themselves to cover "natures art" which the grain and knots of the wood provide.

Antique tools adorn the entry hall to the  apartment on the foundation level.
